From Germany traditions to my kitchen.
Our visits to Berlin, Munich and towns along the Moselle have given us many happy travel memories. Living close to the German border also makes Germany a familiar place to explore. This book gives me an opportunity to learn more about its cooking traditions and bring those memories into my own kitchen.
The recipes are rooted in the country’s regions, history and local ingredients. They offer a warm introduction to German cooking, from comforting everyday meals to cakes and desserts connected to particular places and traditions.

Spoonfuls of Germany

I chose Spoonfuls of Germany by Nadia Hassani for its collection of regional recipes and the stories behind German food.
Living close to the German border has given us many opportunities to explore, from nearby Trier to visits to Berlin and Munich. Cooking from this book brings some of those travel memories into my kitchen.
I’m starting with chicken in Riesling with grapes and homemade Spätzle, followed by strudel, a chance to try both savory and sweet dishes as I explore Germany through its food.
