Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡

Sacred temples, lively streets and food at every turn.

Thailand holds so many special memories for me. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there and rang in the New Year in Bangkok. We travelled along the Chao Phraya River, visited magnificent temples and tasted our way through the city on a night Tuk Tuk food tour. From the street food of Bangkok to a cooking class in Phuket, Thailand showed me how closely food, tradition and everyday life are connected.

Bangkok: Recipes and Stories from the Heart of Thailand

Bangkok: Recipes and Stories from the Heart of Thailand by Leela Punyaratabandhu explores the everyday food culture of Bangkok through recipes, traditions and personal stories.

I chose this book because it reminded me of the Bangkok we experienced. Busy markets, small tables, generous people and food prepared with care. The author also lives in Chicago, where I was born and raised, which made the connection feel even more special.
